A new headstone was erected in December 2014 thanks to the efforts of Ian Nelson, The Royal British Legion, Royal Green Jackets, The British Legion Riders Group, The Holy Trinity Church Community and the local funeral directors

He was elected for the VC by the non commissioned officers of his regiment
